Afternoon, all.

Well, quite a bit has happened since the last update, so I guess it's
time for another.

AGM & 2013/14 Board
-------------------

The AGM was held in Adelaide on 1 November. Thankyou to all those
members who attended. The business of the AGM was transacted in record
time, and was followed by a brief publications launch and a presentation
on the findings of the OSIA survey, after which many of those present
adjourned afterwards for a most enjoyable meal at the Himalayan Kitchen
in North Adelaide. The new Board met for the first time the following
day in Adelaide.

The AGM returned the four serving Directors who had nominated, and at
its first meeting on 2 Nov the 2013/14 Board re-appointed Don Christie
as a Director.

With a smaller number of Directors, this year the Board will be taking a
slightly different approach to division of labour, will all hands on
deck across all the former portfolios.

Your Board for 2013/14 are:
* Jack Burton (Saosce, SA), Chairman
* Mike Hideo (Red Hat Asia-Pacific, Qld), Secretary
* David Bullock (Loftus IT, SA), Treasurer
* Don Christie (Catalyst IT, NSW & NZ), Director
* Daniel Jitnah (Greenware IT, Vic), Director

Case studies brochure & strategic plan
--------------------------------------

The second edition of the OSIA case studies brochure and the OSIA
strategic plan 2013-2018 were launched at the AGM. Thankyou to those
members who provided their (overwhelmingly positive) feedback on the
consultation draft of the plan and to those who contributed case studies
to the brochure.

Copies of the newly launched documents are available on the OSIA
website, here:
Strategic Plan - http://www.osia.com.au/drupal7/?q=node/32
Case Studies - http://www.osia.com.au/drupal7/?q=node/19

In addition, a small number of paper copies have been posted to all
financial members.

Should any member require additional paper copies of the case studies
brochure, please contact either Mike Hideo or me off-list and ask for a
print-ready copy.

OSIA survey findings
--------------------

Also at the AGM event, OSIA Director Daniel Jitnah presented the
findings of the recent OSIA survey.

A copy of the slides is available on the OSIA website, here:
http://www.osia.com.au/drupal7/?q=node/31

Thankyou to all members (and others) who responded to the survey.

Member referral service
-----------------------

Regarding the development of the member referral service, an
announcement will be made later this week.

Upcoming events
---------------

The next OSIA member event is planned for March 2014 (stay tuned for the
exact date, venue details, etc.).

In the meantime, it's recognised that many of us will be in Perth in
January for LCA2014 -- so perhaps an OSIA BoF may be in order? Any
interested members please speak up.

Board meetings
--------------

The Board will next meet on 6 December, by teleconference. As always,
members are encouraged to bring the Board's attention to any matters you
may feel warrant it, either by posting to this list or by contacting any
of the Directors listed above.

Regards,

Jack Burton
