Afternoon, all.

It's only been two weeks since the last update, but there's more news
to report already.

** TPP -- Senate references committee submission **

On 26 October, OSIA lodged a submission to the Senate Standing
Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence & Trade (references committee)
regarding TPP. The Committee considered our submission and approved it
for publication this week.

Copies of our submission can be obtained here:
and here:

The Committee is due to report by 7 February 2017.

** Annual General Meeting **

OSIA's 2016 AGM will be held in Sydney on the evening of Friday 18
November. The Company Secretary distributed the notice of AGM on this
list last Friday -- see his post for further information. If any member
did not receive that post, please request a duplicate copy from Steven
Sackett <secretary at osia.com.au>.

Proxy voting forms were distributed with the notice & agenda. For those
members not able to attend the AGM in person, please ensure you return
your completed proxy forms to the Secretary no later than 6pm (Eastern
Summer Time) on 16 November.

All members are reminded that to cast a vote at the AGM (either in
person or by proxy), a member must be financial. Any members who have
not yet renewed their membership for the 2016/17 year are encouraged to
do so today at: http://www.osia.com.au/drupal7/join-now

I look forward to catching up with many OSIA members on the night of
the AGM.

** Secretary to retire; new Secretary sought **

A reminder that OSIA Secretary Steven Sackett has given notice that he
will be retiring from the role in mid November. The board thanks Mr
Sackett for his exemplary service over the last three years and wishes
him all the best in his retirement.

Expressions of interest are still sought from members (or directors /
senior employees of members) interested in taking on the role of
Company Secretary thereafter.

Those interested should contact me directly, off-list.

** Board meetings **

The board met in Melbourne on 29 October, which was the last board
meeting of the current term. The 2016/17 board will schedule its first
meeting after the results of the election to be held at the AGM are

As always, OSIA members are encouraged to bring any pertinent matters
(and indeed your views on them) to the attention of the Board, either
on this list or by contacting any of us directly.
