This is an endless problem with IP law. There are vocal insiders with money
who campaign to protect their own interests and get quoted as "experts".
It's ripe for regulatory capture. There is a huge community of consumers,
open sourcers, SMEs and startups who are disadvantaged by all of this. We
need to be organised and mount the counter case. Apart from OSIA, the
Australian Digital Alliance (digital.org.au) and EFA (efa.org.au) are also
helping.
